Some background information about me...

Autumn Colors (21"x9") $500

I grew up in the scenic American west where I spent many summers camping with my family.  My father is a retired geologist and we stayed in some very remote locations.

I developed a passion for nature and all of its wonders.  It is a constant source of inspiration for me.  My goal is to have the viewers experience quiet appreciation for nature's beauty, letting them escape their everyday lives, if only for a few moments.

My paintings are primarily watercolor landscapes.  The play of intense morning or afternoon light on nature's forms is particularly fascinating for me.  Strong value contrasts that emphasize light are frequently present in my work.  In addition to landscapes, I paint rustic buildings with a story to tell.  Italian scenes are fun.

I have a Botanical Art Certificate from the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois.  I am a member of several local and national artists organizations.

I live in the suburbs of Chicago.  Even though this is an urban area, there are many natural areas that I derive my inspiration from including the Morton Arboretum, Botanical Gardens and the area's many forest preserves.
I am an artist with an MBA.  I recently left my left-brained, 25-year career in Information Technology for a more gratifying, right-brained profession; decorative wall painting (faux finishes, murals, trompe l'oeil and stenciling).  Meanwhile, I enjoy creating watercolor landscapes and love to share my art with others.
